A OneCal alternative that only syncs
If what you wanted was your Google calendars showing up in Apple Calendar, most of a scheduling suite is a subscription you are not using. CalCollapse does the sync half — one way, into an iCloud calendar you choose — and one calendar pair is free.
What OneCal is
OneCal mirrors events between Google, Outlook and iCloud calendars, in one direction or several, and pairs that with scheduling links people can book you through. It is a capable product, and if you need both halves of it, it is the one to buy. It has no free tier: as of August 2026 its plans start at $5 per user per month after a fourteen-day trial, and what the tiers mostly buy you is more connected calendars.
CalCollapse is deliberately a smaller thing. It reads Google calendars and writes them into an iCloud calendar you already have, hourly, one way, and it has no booking pages, no team seats and no second direction.
Where the two differ
- Sync only, versus sync plus schedulingEvery OneCal plan includes unlimited scheduling links, and the price reflects a product that does both. CalCollapse has no booking pages at all. If you already use Calendly, Cal.com or your employer’s own booking tool, you are not paying twice for one here.
- A free plan, versus a trialOne Google account and one calendar syncing into iCloud is free here and stays free. As of August 2026, OneCal’s trial runs fourteen days and then asks for a card.
- One way, with read-only access to GoogleThe only Google permission CalCollapse asks for is reading your calendars, so nothing in Google can be created, changed or deleted by it even in principle. Two-way sync is genuinely useful and OneCal offers it — but a tool that writes to both ends must hold write access to both ends, and that is a larger thing to hand an employer’s calendar to.
- A destination you pick, not your default calendarOneCal copies events into your primary calendar. CalCollapse asks which of your existing iCloud calendars should receive them, so the copies can live somewhere you can colour, hide or share on their own — and it never creates, renames or deletes a calendar to do it.
- Nothing that can email your colleaguesSynced events are written with no organiser and no attendee list, so iCloud cannot mistake a copy of a meeting for an invitation and mail the people on it. The attendees are kept as text in the description instead.
- Per account, not per seatThere are no seats to count here — an account is one person’s calendars, and the paid plan lifts the limits on all of them at once.
When OneCal is the better choice
There are several, and they are easy to check before you spend an evening on this:
- Outlook or Exchange is one end of itCalCollapse reads Google and writes iCloud. Nothing else. OneCal covers Outlook, and so does CalendarBridge.
- You need events flowing both waysBlocking your work calendar from your personal one, as well as the reverse, needs multi-way sync. Here, events go from Google into iCloud and never back; editing a synced event in Apple Calendar will be overwritten on the next run.
- Minutes matterCalCollapse syncs hourly, plus whenever you press the button. OneCal advertises near-real-time. If you rearrange meetings shortly before they start, that gap is real.
- You want booking links from the same subscriptionOne bill and one calendar connection covering both jobs is a genuine convenience, and it is not one CalCollapse offers.
How it works
Sign in with Apple
This only identifies you. It grants no calendar access of any kind — that comes later, and separately.
Connect iCloud with an app-specific password
Generated at account.apple.com and revocable there at any time, without telling us. Apple offers no calendar-only credential to third parties, so this is the narrowest grant available.
Connect a Google account
Through Google’s own consent screen. The single permission asked for is reading your calendars; there is no box on that screen that would let us write to Google.
Pair a Google calendar with an iCloud one
Choose which calendar to read and which of your existing iCloud calendars its events should land in. The first sync runs immediately, and then hourly.
Switching over? Turn the old sync off first. Let OneCal remove the events it wrote into iCloud before pairing the same calendars here. Both tools only touch events they created themselves, which is the right behaviour and also means neither will clear up the other’s duplicates.
What it costs
One Google account and one calendar syncing into iCloud is free. Connecting more accounts, collapsing several calendars into one, hiding event details behind busy blocks, labelling what came from where and leaving out meetings you declined are what the unlimited plan adds. Billing is handled by Stripe; card details never reach this app.

Is CalCollapse a drop-in replacement for OneCal?
Only for the sync half of it. OneCal is two products — calendar sync and scheduling links — and CalCollapse is the first one, for Google into iCloud specifically. If you use OneCal's booking pages, or you sync Outlook, or you need events flowing in both directions, it is not a replacement and this page will not pretend otherwise.
Does CalCollapse have a free plan?
Yes. One Google account with one calendar syncing into iCloud is free and stays free, which is the whole job for most people who want their work calendar on their phone. OneCal has no free tier; as of August 2026 it offers a fourteen-day trial and then requires a paid plan. Connecting more Google accounts, or collapsing several calendars at once, is what the paid plan is for here.
Which calendar do the events land in?
One you choose, from the iCloud calendars you already have. It does not have to be your default calendar, and CalCollapse never creates, renames or deletes an iCloud calendar. It also only ever edits the events it wrote itself, so anything you added by hand to that same calendar is invisible to it and safe from it.
Can it write to my Google Calendar?
No, and not by configuration — by capability. The only Google permission requested is read access to Calendar, so there is no way to create, change or delete anything in Google even in principle. Sync runs one way, from Google into iCloud. Tools that offer two-way sync necessarily hold write access to both ends.
Will my colleagues be emailed when my calendar syncs?
No. Synced events carry no scheduling properties at all — no organiser, no attendees — so iCloud cannot read a copy of a meeting as an invitation and mail the people on it. The attendee list is preserved as text in the event's description instead, and your responses in Google Calendar are never changed, because nothing is ever written back.
How often does it sync?
Once an hour, and you can trigger a run yourself at any time from the dashboard. This is slower than the near-real-time sync OneCal advertises. For a calendar you read on a phone it is usually indistinguishable; if you move meetings minutes before they start and need the copy to keep up, it is a real difference and worth weighing.
Can I sync the times without showing what the meetings are?
Yes, on the paid plan. A switch on each calendar pair reduces every event it syncs to a busy block at the time the meeting occupies: the title, notes, location, video link and attendee list are never written to iCloud at all. That is usually what makes a work calendar safe to put on a personal device.
Does it support Outlook or Exchange?
No. CalCollapse reads Google Calendar and writes iCloud, and that is the whole of it. If Outlook is one end of what you need to sync, OneCal and CalendarBridge both cover it and CalCollapse does not.
What does it store?
Your events are stored so each run only has to fetch what changed since the last one, and they are deleted when you delete the calendar pair, disconnect the account, or delete your account. Nothing in your calendar is used for advertising or shared with anyone else. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
How do I move over from OneCal?
Turn off the OneCal sync that writes into iCloud first, and let it remove the events it created — two tools writing copies of the same meetings into the same calendar leaves you with duplicates that neither of them will clean up, because each only touches its own. Then pair the calendars here and the first sync runs immediately.
